Last P-Day in the MTC - Week 5

Hi all!!

I leave for the field next Wednesday! So this is the last time I will be emailing from the MTC!

This will be a quick email because I have a temple session soon. Hopefully I can come back and email a bit later but I have to see President about issues with my district (fun fun fun) :P I am all good though so don't stress!

This has been a good week! We had to go get our visas extended and so our guro (teacher) told us to try and talk to people there. So Sister Tango (the other Sister Training Leader) talked to some people. To one lady Sister Tango said hi and we introduced ourselves. I said we were here because we were missionaries and I asked if she had heard of our church. She said she had and that she knew someone who was Mormon. Sadly we had to leave then! But it was great! It seems so simple but it took some guts to talk to a random hahahaha seeing as we don't do that in the MTC. So I am pumped for getting out into the field!

I just need to learn Tagalog better :P That will come along though.

Oh I also have another companion! (So there is 3 of us) Sister Balasubramaniyum (long I know), came from Sri Lanka. She had already been here but went home. So she's back! She is funny :)

Hopefully I can send some photos later. I am sorry if I can't.

I love you all! I just want to share a quick scripture with you.

It is found in 3 Nephi 5:13:

"Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life."

That is me!!! And it is crazy to think that that is me. I literally have been called of him to declare his word. The weight of that is on my shoulders a bit, however I am going to do my best to serve him with all my heart, might, mind and strength. I only have 18 months to do this. I just have to talk to everyone. Open my mouth and teach His children. They will feel of the truth sa pamamagitan ng Espiritu Santo (through the Holy Ghost). I love being a missionary! And it hasn't even properly started yet!

Anyway, I have to go for now. Hopefully, I'll be able to come back later.

Love you all! If I can't email I'll email when I am out in the field. Don't worry about me! I am doing well and I'll be looked after as I go to the field ( I don't have to travel far) Btw if this doesn't make sense I haven't proof read it.

Sister Hann xx

These are the missionaries in the MTC with me for the last 3 weeks. Those who are not learning the language only stay in the MTC for 3 weeks. If you need to learn the language then you stay for 6 weeks. This is the reason I had 2 groups of missionaries during my 6 weeks in the MTC.

I bought this as a memento of my mission. A lady here makes them.

This is my district with a lady who was visiting from New Zealand.

Outside the Manila Temple

This is one of the Filipino districts whose district room is next door to ours. We just went in there one time and took this photo. They are all hilarious. We renamed them the 'funny district'.

Cafeteria with Sister Berry. She is from Melbourne and is cousins with Shelton. She's awesome!

This is of two of the Elders in my district. They are funny as. Elder Udersike (the one being carried) Is going to my mission as well.

Crazy Week - Week 4

Hi everyone!

Well well well,

This week has been a crazy one haha!

So obviously the last batch of missionaries left a week ago. That sucked and still does but I complained about that last week.

The new batch of missionaries are cool. There are less of them this time. I haven't become heaps close with them yet.. maybe in time.

So I have a new companion haha.  I am now with Sister Billy. She is from Vanuatu. She is heaps cool and we get along really well! I was also called as Sister Training Leader.... but with a sister from another companionship. (Sister Tango). That doesn't normally happen haha but yeah that is a long story! As STL's we just help if any of the Sister's in our zone have any problems and that sort of thing. And we turn the lights off in the hallway before bed and tell everyone to turn their lights off at 10 haha. We have meetings every Sunday and just discuss what's happening with our district and our zone.

Our district is interesting haha. Some problems are happening.. Some people aren't being that obedient. But that's all good, as long as I am being obedient.. That's what really matters. There are some of us that are just doing our best to do the right thing.

In a way I can't wait to get out of the MTC. It is hard being inside all the time. I just want to get out and do the work. I feel happiest when I am figuring out what will help our 'investigators.' I just want to get out there and do the work. I can see progress in the language though! In my lessons I have actually been able to form Tagalog sentences and understand (most) of what they're saying. So happy to see progress haha. Before I just felt like I was getting no where.

(I don't have photos for this week, sorry). I might come on and email some a bit later if I take anymore and if I can come back on but we'll see.

Missing you all.

Love you

Sister Hann

I Did An All Nighter and Now I am Dead - Week 3

So..... I did an all nighter.... Only because all the missionaries left this morning... So sad :(

I didn't plan on doing an all nighter but it just happened. So, my roomies left at 1 am. They were the first ones to leave. So I was like, oh yeah I'll just wait up with them and then say goodbye. They were running late though so I helped bring their bags down. When I got down there, there were other missionaries there just to say goodbye. So I ended up hanging around there... By the time my roomies left, other missionaries were coming down to prepare to leave. So I just stayed down and hung out with them before they left. It was worth it.. except I keep falling asleep today. Luckily it is P-Day.. although I was falling asleep in the temple hahaha.

I misssssssssssssss all the missionaries already! I love them so much. It is crazy how close you can become with people in about 3 weeks. I have made friendships that will last forever :) They are the most caring, friendly people you will ever meet. I am so grateful for the opportunity to know them.... It just sucks that it was such a short amount of time :( But what most missionaries have done is pass what we call a 'BR' around. It is short for Book of Remembrance. So we all just wrote each other messages in them. It is such a good idea and I'm so glad I did it.

It sucks now that they are all gone because it is just my district here. So 9 of us in this whole MTC....until Friday when the next batch of missionaries come. We are just so pumped for the next batch to come because it is deserted here and we are so used to having heaps of Filipinos around.

Here are some photos:

These two photos are of my closest friend here in the MTC, Elder Madriaga. We talked on Facebook before I came and he is a legend

This is President and Sister Trask... And one of my good friends Elder Aro. He is such a kind person and helped me with the language.

This is Elder Berandoy. Hilarious guy and a good friend.

We took photos this Sunday and everyone just loves to jump in.

And then last but not least is Elder Santos. (He is on the right... Everyone loves to photobomb). This guy is a crack up and is Elder Madriaga's companion. The two of them are the best haha. Elder Santos will just walk around doing this sign and say 'repent ye repent ye, and be baptised' hahahahah or just 'magsisi' which means repent. I don't even know how it started but it came this big joke. He's great.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh missing them already :(

Anyway, tomorrow we go out proselyting! Which will be heaps of fun! It's only for a few hours but I am excited... and nervous. I probably won't understand anything but that's okay hahahaha.

I can't even think remember what happened this week... It went so fast. We've all just been sadly counting down the days till they leave. And when they left there was about a million people saying 'till we meet again.' Some would be like.. 'Till we meet again in the Spirit World' hahahahah or "Till we meet again in the Celestial Kingdom.' (Hopefully). Hahahaha just lots of fun :)

Anyway, that's about it from me this week. If I think of anything more I'll just send another email haha.

Ingat! (Take care)

Love you all

Sister Hann xx

Getting ready to say goodbye to these missionaries

All the missionaries in the MTC for my first 3 weeks. Apart from 9 of us all the others are leaving. When you don't need to learn the language you only need to be in the MTC for 3 weeks. Another group of missionaries will arrive for the next 3 weeks of my time in the MTC.

I Hate Stairs - Week 2

I legit hate stairs! And I am FOREVER walking up and down them here. The MTC is made up of two main buildings that are next to each other. You only have to walk a few metres and then you are in the next building. So I am just going to complain for a second here. My district room is at the end of one building on the second floor, and then my room where I sleep is in the other building on the 3rd floor. So I have to walk down 3 flights of stairs to get down from my room and then we'll walk into the other building, all the way down the other end and then up to the second floor to my district room. There are no toilets on the floor where my district room is. Anyway, this sounds so stupid when I write it but seriously IT HURTS!!!! Anyway, enough complaining.

So this week has been awesome! A lot better than the first week. I had one pretty bad day last week. It was just a mixture of stress from the language, still trying to adjust to the new place and new people, and homesickness. I went and spoke to President Trask the MTC President. He is so awesome! And he really helped me. He refers to himself as our 'second papa' (don't worry dad he can't replace you :P). He's just really caring and you can tell he loves all the missionaries! Being able to talk to him helped me be calm and feel better. He also showed me Alma 26:27 which brought me A LOT of comfort! Have a read. The next day I fasted to feel motivation and to just enjoy being there. It worked so fast! Half way through the day I was already feeling so motivated and happy! Definitely strengthened my testimony on fasting for sure! Oh also... President Trask LOVES to talk.. So you can't expect to go in there for a quick visit :P

One of the Sisters in my district (Sister Billy) tried to say take care to someone but she actually said 'magsisi' which is repent hahahahaha it was hilarious. So I just say magsisi to her all the time and she loses it.

So... Sunday was fun. Normally for Sacrament meeting we split off into RTM's and LTM's. But cause it was fast Sunday we were all together and guess what... I had to say the opening prayer haha. So I did it in Tagalog! (With a few English words haha). When I was done I heard some chatter haha.. I think the Filipinos were surprised :P

The Filipino missionaries are just so awesome. They're so friendly. I have different handshakes with a few of the Elders :P Some of them call me Sister Hann Jackie Chan hahahaha. One Elder started that because I said my first name and he was saying something about a Jade in Jackie Chan? I have no idea if that's true but yeah because of that a few Elders call me Jackie Chan or what I said before haha. It is hilarious.

We had another devotional last night. That was great. It was a new Area Seventy. Elder Pagaduan. If you look in the Chastity missionary pamphlets.... the last photo is actually him and his family! So cool haha.

I think that's the main things for this week. I'm trying to rush so I can email everyone haha. I'll send some photos through as well in a sec :)

Mahal Kita (it means I love you... don't know how to say I love you all yet hahahaha.)

Sister Hann xx

So the first photo is a bunch of people at lunch hahahaha. The next one (to the right) is 2 sisters from my district (you can't see my badge in any of them)Next is Elder Santos.. he's a crackup. Then there is my buddy Elder Aro and I, he is awesome. One of the Elders stole my camera last night and took this photo of his badge haha. There were also selfies hahahaha.Lastly, 3 Elders who are extremely happy to get their photo taken hahaha.
